Frequently Asked Questions

What is nutritional therapy and how can it help me?

Nutritional therapy looks at your whole lifestyle, diet, and wellbeing to uncover what’s driving your symptoms. Instead of quick fixes, I support your body with food, supplements (if needed), and practical strategies that fit into your life. My main focus areas are brain support, digestive health, and optimal vegan nutrition.

What is plant-based nutrition, and how is it different to a vegan diet?

Veganism is a lifestyle, not a diet. Vegans avoid all animal by-products in food, clothing and products.

A plant-based diet focuses on whole, nourishing foods like vegetables, fruit, legumes, nuts, seeds, and wholegrains — rather than relying on processed alternatives.

Plant-based nutrition is beneficial because it’s rich in fibre, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, all of which support energy, digestion, and long-term health.

Do you only work with vegans?

While I specialise in plant-based nutrition, I work with anyone who wants to feel healthier and eat more plants. Some clients are fully vegan, others are vegetarian, and some are simply looking to add more plant-based foods without cutting everything else out.

What happens in the first consultation?

Your initial consultation lasts 90 minutes. We’ll go through your health history, current diet, lifestyle, and goals. From this, I’ll create a personalised plan with clear, realistic steps for you to follow.

How long is your programme?

I offer a three-month programme as a minimum, which includes two coaching sessions to help you stay on track. Some people find three months is enough, but some choose to continue longer for ongoing coaching support.

Do you offer online consultations?

Yes, I offer both online consultations (via a secure video platform) and in-person sessions at my garden clinic in Colchester, England.

Do you provide meal plans?

Yes — if it suits you. Some people love the structure of a detailed plan, while others prefer flexible guidance, shopping tips, or recipe ideas. I’ll tailor everything to your preferences.

Can you help with allergies or intolerances?

Absolutely. We can adapt your nutrition plan to work around allergies, intolerances, or sensitivities while keeping your diet balanced and enjoyable.

Do you recommend supplements?

My priority is always food first, but supplements can be useful in certain situations (for example, vitamin B12, vitamin D, omega-3s, or if lab testing shows a deficiency).

If I recommend anything, it will be evidence-based and tailored to your needs. At a very basic level, I feel a good quality multivitamin would benefit most people living busy lives.

Do you offer functional testing?

Yes I do offer functional testing when appropriate, to give us a deeper look at what’s going on in your body. The tests I sometimes use include:

  • Stool testing (with Invivo) to assess digestion and gut health

  • Genetic testing (with Lifecode Gx) for nervous system and nutrient pathways

  • Food intolerance testing (vegan and vegetarian food prints with Cambridge Nutrition Science)

These tests are not included in the programme price. They can be expensive, which is why I don’t often recommend them. In most cases, we see great results by making targeted changes with food and lifestyle before considering testing. For clients who want extra insight, testing can be a helpful option, but it’s by no means essential.

Do you work alongside my GP or other healthcare providers?

Yes. Nutritional therapy is not a replacement for medical care, and I encourage you to keep in touch with your GP. If needed, I can work alongside your GP or other practitioners to make sure your care is safe, joined-up, and supportive of your wider health.

I’m not sure I can stick to big changes — will you help me with this?

Definitely. My role is to make changes feel achievable, not overwhelming. We’ll work at your pace, building habits that fit your lifestyle so they last long-term.

How quickly will I see results?

Everyone is different. Some clients notice improvements in energy or digestion within a few weeks, while other areas can take longer. My three-month programme gives us time to make meaningful progress, and I’ll support you throughout.

How do I book?

Start with a free 30-minute discovery call. This gives us a chance to talk about your goals, see if we’re the right fit, and outline the next steps.

Still have a question?

You can book a free 30-minute consultation where we can talk about your symptoms, your health goals and how I can help you.
